Terms of Use

1. The service

Lector is a reading and language-learning tool that lets you read PDF, EPUB and text files of your own choosing, tap words to see translations, listen to the text with an AI voice that runs on your device, and study the words you mark with FSRS spaced repetition. Lector is not a publisher or content provider; the starter books bundled with the App are public-domain works.

2. Content you upload and copyright

1. You confirm that you own the copyright to every file you load into the App or otherwise have a legal right to use it in this way.
2. Lector only provides a reader and analysis interface that runs on your device. The files you load are not reviewed, published or shared with anyone.
3. You are solely responsible for loading copyrighted material without permission and for any infringement of third-party intellectual property rights; the developer shall not be held liable for such use under any circumstances.
4. If you are a rights holder and believe your rights are being infringed through Lector, write to the e-mail address at the end of these Terms.

3. Intellectual property

The Lector name and logo, interface designs, illustrations, badges, icon sets, literary texts (excluding public-domain works), the FSRS memory interface and the software code belong to Tekun Software. The App is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use under a non-transferable, non-exclusive licence. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, attempt to extract the source code of, or resell the App. Open-source components included in the App are subject to their own licences (Profile › About & Licenses › Open Source Licenses).

4. AI and translation output

Translations, pronunciations, dictionary information, CEFR difficulty estimates and read-aloud audio are produced by automated systems and AI models and may be inaccurate or incomplete. No guarantee is given of linguistic accuracy, academic or exam success, or uninterrupted operation of the voice engine. Translation and dictionary features depend on an internet connection and third-party services.

5. Account

You can use Lector without an account (as a guest); your data is then kept only on your device. If you create an account, you are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your account secure. An account keeps your Lector Pro subscription; cloud backup and cross-device sync are included in Lector Pro. You can delete your account and all your data at any time, free of charge, via Profile › Data Management › Delete Account and All Data.

6. Lector Pro subscription

1. The core reading and learning features are free. Lector Pro is a paid monthly or yearly subscription that includes unlimited shelf space, in-depth memory analytics, cloud backup and cross-device sync, full backup and restore, and exporting your words to Anki and CSV. Current prices are shown in the App.
2. Payment is charged to your Google Play or Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
3. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
4. You can manage and cancel your subscription in your store's Subscriptions section. Deleting the App does not cancel the subscription.

7. Apple users

If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (Standard EULA, https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) applies together with these Terms; in case of conflict, the provisions of the Standard EULA in Apple's favour prevail. Apple is not responsible for maintaining or supporting the App.

8. Prohibited use

You may not use the App for unlawful purposes, in a way that infringes the rights of others, or in a way that disrupts the App or connected services (automated bulk requests, exploiting security vulnerabilities, etc.).

9. Limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for data loss, indirect damages or loss of profit. To protect your data you can use cloud backup or full backup in Lector Pro. Your mandatory rights under consumer law remain unaffected.

10. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms and will announce material changes in the App or on our website. We may suspend or close your account if you use the App in breach of these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Consumer arbitration committees and consumer courts have jurisdiction over consumer transactions; for other disputes the courts and enforcement offices of İzmir have jurisdiction.
